Frequently asked questions

• Why do I have to pick a folder? Gatterie runs inside the macOS app sandbox and may only read or modify folders you explicitly grant.
• Do I need an account or a cloud service? No. Library, search and metadata work locally.
• Do I need LM Studio or Ollama? No. Only generative image descriptions and AI tags optionally use a locally started service. Apple Vision OCR works without any third-party app.
• Are originals altered? Only when you explicitly save metadata or a JPEG orientation. Use a copy of important files for your first tests.
